Karina Clarence is an abstract artist based in Yellowknife, NT, Canada.
Karina is an American-born artist who grew up in Portland, Oregon, and has called Canada home for the past thirteen years. After spending over a decade in Calgary, Alberta, she recently relocated with her family to Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, where the beauty of Canada's subarctic landscape continues to inspire her creative practice.
Drawing inspiration from her faith, Karina creates work that reflects a deep appreciation for colour and texture, and the emotions they evoke. Her artistic journey began at a young age and has remained a constant thread throughout her life, evolving through various creative pursuits and experiences. Through her work, she seeks to capture a sense of peace, beauty, and wonder; qualities that are deeply rooted in both her faith and her connection to the natural environment.
She is grateful for the unwavering support of her family and friends, whose encouragement has allowed her artistic practice to flourish. As both an artist and a mother, she finds particular joy in nurturing creativity within her three children and inspiring them to explore and appreciate the arts.
Today, Karina's work is driven by her desire to add beauty to the world and create meaningful connections through art. She approaches each piece as an opportunity to create work that brings warmth, reflection, and hope into the spaces it inhabits.
