The Process

Karina's work begins on raw, unprimed canvas, where layers of acrylic paint and water are applied to create nuanced washes of colour, texture, and depth. The natural absorbency of the canvas plays a vital role in the creative process, contributing to the distinct character of each piece. After the painting is completed, the canvas is carefully hand-stretched over 1.5-inch deep frames and finished with a matte sealant that protects the artwork while preserving the richness of the raw canvas surface. By stretching the canvas after painting, the composition extends continuously around the edges, creating a clean, contemporary presentation that is ready to hang and appreciate from every angle.
